I had a casual conversation with an elderly man when I was a younger adult. He said men don’t like to hear that their wives control them but if you check, there’s always a woman somewhere controlling any man whose wife is not controlling.
I don’t call it control. What I believe is that a woman wants to be in charge of her own affairs. She wants to have a say in what is hers. Her man, her career, her children are hers. If you call that control, you make it complicated but if you understand the intricacies, you strengthen your inner peace.
A woman does not wait for anyone before she celebrates herself. Any man who understands this would appreciate why we have multiple mothers’ day celebrations in a single year and other days dedicated to the girl child and women. It is not a coincidence.
It was Dale Carnegie, in his book – How to win Friends and influence People – who said that “to get a man’s attention, find out what interests him and what catches his enthusiasm.” Men may be indifferent but women do not overlook it when you fail to celebrate them.
Dale Carnegie’s advice applies to all human beings but any man who keeps it handy in relation to a woman nearby is a man, not because he was born a male child but because he chose to be a man who understands women. According to Dale Carnegie, the royal road to a man’s (woman’s) heart is to talk to him (her) about the things s/he treasures most.
Don’t even imagine a world without women. It will be classless, boring and without form. March 08 is set aside to celebrate women who give of themselves to make the world a better place. I join all men to wish all women a happy International Women’s Day, 2026.
