Any sacrifice you make to befriend comfort is worth it but whenever you find yourself in the same room with comfort, ensure you have the key to the door to prepare for your gentle walkout before your romance with comfort becomes your comfort zone.
This is how Denzel Washington put it – “ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship”. No one wishes harship for himself but Denzel’s counsel is both instructive and philosophical. Some hardships imposed by circumstance could be the springboard to your breakthrough.
The price you pay for comfort can come in many forms. You can buy comfort with your money, you can buy comfort with your time, you can buy comfort with self-denial and delayed gratification. Ultimately, your place of comfort should excite you and give you satisfaction and fulfillment.
There comes a time when the things you used to earnestly desire no longer give you the same feeling of excitement and satisfaction like they did when you longed for them. Among other reasons, the comfort you find in your present state may aid you to tolerate and keep tolerating your dissatisfaction.
Sometimes, what keeps you in your comfort zone disguises in the form of patience. Patience is a virtue but there are times when courage is what you need more than patience to wrestle yourself from your comfort zone and push ahead.
Comfort is a good friend but comfort can be a silent enemy to your progress. When it gets to the point when you begin to tolerate your dissatisfaction, you are already in your comfort zone and this may stunt your progress. Always remember that whatever you tolerate, you cannot change.
