HE’S ALIVE

Without death, there is no resurrection. Without resurrection, there is no life. Jesus was without sin. He didn’t have to die but He did. He could have walked away but he chose the cross, the rugged cross. He’s alive.

Death is an unsolicited counsellor. If you are not used to attending funerals, you may not understand. I have seen a number of painful, yet dramatic departure of loved ones in recent times. Funerals are brutal reminders that we don’t always have it figured out.

If you are too busy with life, the lessons at funerals will make you take a moment to reflect about the reality of life and death. Many times, we are so much in a hurry to get to our destination that we overlook the path that leads us there.

Even if it does not catch your fancy, do not despise the road that leads to your desired destination, because you must get to where you are not going before you get to where you are going. Ponder over that.

Jesus carried His cross. He is resurrection and life. He died so we may live. What cross are you carrying? Seeds decay before they bear fruits. Trees shed their leaves as they wither to make way for new leaves. That is the power of resurrection and life. The dry bones can rise again.

The physical presence of Jesus on earth was brief but eternally memorable. Don’t always forget that the time in your hands is actually not yours. Make peace with men and do good when you have the opportunity. The whole world should not be on your shoulders. You have to live in order that you can live.

Dear readers, to say the truth it’s been a while. I took unannounced leave from my social media pages to reflect on the reality of life and death, even as we wade through the rigours of life.

With the resurrection of Christ, the dry bones in me arose. The strife died in me that makes me weary. The doubt died in me that makes me fearful. The fear died in me that makes me nervous. Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.

Happy holidays, folks. The tomb is empty. Hallelujah, Christ is risen. He’s alive.
